Slate re application
« on: July 27, 2014, 09:30:20 PM »
Hi Tex,
If we use the topical sealant for our slate floors when it comes time for resealing what would we need to do, can we just clean and reseal with the same stuff or would it need to be stripped again? Also what would we clean the floor with before re applying.
Thanks

Hi Paul,
it depends on how many coats, or how many times surface has been previously sealed. With topical coatings most find a simple clean and application directly on top of existing coating the way to go but we should point out...there will be a point after numerous re-seals that surface will require a strip and start again. Especially with acrylics, there will eventually be too much "plastic" on the surface which could whiten if no longer allowed to breath. A simple strip would be required and start again from scratch.
