Hi there, newbie wondering if high pressure washing, 3500psi thru a surface sprayer is sufficient prep or if acid etching is preferred?

Hi Shux,
this is a difficult one to give a generic answer on as there is no "one size fits all" method of preparation and will differ from project to project.
We have a very basic prep guide here:
http://cswcoatings.com.au/sealer-preparation/
With coatings on a bare slab acid etching is definitely beneficial to really open up the pores and ensure greater adhesion.
If surface has been previously sealed/painted and adequate product still remains, then acid etching would not be of any benefit.
In contrast, acid etching is not beneficial with a penetrating sealer.
To generalise surface must be dust/dirt/chemical free. Hope this helps.
